Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for Reporting and Research within IOM Zimbabwe. The National Reporting and Research Officer is a key technical person responsible for the development and coordination of all donor reports in Zimbabwe.

Education and experience:

  1. A post graduate University Degree in political or social science, international relations or law, equivalent academic preparation and/or work experience.
  2. A minimum five years proven experience in report writing and research.
  3. Ability to consolidate information from multiple sources and report writing.
  4. Ability to work with basic presentation software, e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of Access and statistical analysis is a plus.

Languages:

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for Reporting and Research within IOM Zimbabwe. The National Reporting and Research Officer is a key technical person responsible for the development and coordination of all donor reports in Zimbabwe. In particular he/she will:

  1. Oversee the development of all donor reports (both narrative and financial) including liaising with programme managers and HQ to ensure they are sent out in a timely fashion.
  2. Edit and coordinate all the IOM Zimbabwe’s donor reports in close coordination with the relevant project managers, to ensure they meet donor requirements.
  3. Compile and draft regular reports covering the mission’s programmes and project activities including programmatic and thematic information sheets, ad hoc reports, internal reporting for IOM regional or headquarter offices, among others.
  4. Prepare briefings and background information as required including specific information requested by Government and donors.
  5. Edit and review all reports developed by other units before sending out external stakeholders.
  6. Track research undertaken by the mission to ensure that deadlines are met and the research and programming units give necessary input into research, as well as to ensure quality of completed research.
  7. For all research, support programmes in developing Terms of Reference; identifying consultants; coordinating with HQ; finalizing and, where appropriate, publishing research.
  8. Ensure that strategic needs of the mission are met through identified research.
  9. Manage and conduct research as required by the mission.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
