Energy data/statistics is critical in energy planning and policy formulation as it is the input into the determination of future energy demand and supply balances. This data is collected from different sources comprising government ministries and agencies, private organisations, Parastatals and consumers. The scope of data ranges from energy resources, transformation and production to consumption. These varied sources of data should be processed, well managed and provide useful information to policy and decision makers. An Energy Information System (EIS) is a systematic way of compiling and processing energy data and information. Hence, an EIS is the bedrock for integrated energy planning and energy policy analysis. Purpose: To develop software based National Energy Information System for compiling, updating, organising and processing energy data and information.
