  • Applicants should have a first degree in Accountancy, a relevant Masters degree and and a PhD degree in Accountancy. The successful candidates should be able to teach Financial Reporting courses form introductory to the advanced stage.

 

 

2. Faculty of Arts

2.1 Department of Linguistics (4 posts)

  • Applicants should hold a Doctoral Degree in English Language for Specific/Academic/Professional Purposes or Applied Linguistics,
  • A Master's degree in Language for Specific Purposes/Applied Linguistics and a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Communication Studies/Linguistics.
  • The posts are mainly for undergraduate teaching but successful candidates will also be asked to contribute to post graduate teaching, administration and supervision of dissertations.

1) Dean, Faculty of Social Studies

Duties and powers of the dean of the faculty are as follows:

The Dean plays a pivotal role in the University's senior management structure, providing overall leadership and management functions to the Faculty which include administration and management of the Faculty's finances. The Dean will also be responsible for all Faculty planning and control in specific areas of human resources, budgeting, academic programmes, departmental equipment and other faculty matters.

Desired Attributes:

The Dean should:

  • Have an earned Doctorate.
  • Be a scholar of note with credibility among his/her academic peers.
  • Offer academic leadership.
  • Be innovative.
  • Be able to plan effectively and to inspire and motivate staff in the faculty.

Responsibilities:

The Dean will be responsible to the Vice Chancellor.

In addition, the Dean will also be responsible for:

  • Developing a sense of community for the Faculty's students, academic and support

    staff regardless of gender, race and religion.
  • Providing support for University-wide initiatives.
  • Developing collaboration and strategic partnerships with Faculty alumni, institutions, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Developing and/or increasing collaboration between Faculty departments, and between the Faculty and other Faculties in ways that enrich the training programmes offered by the Faculty.
  • Undertaking fundraising to support current academic programmes, new developments
    and research projects in the Faculty.
  • Marketing the Faculty undergraduate and post graduate programmes, and non-degree and certificate programmes to commerce and industry, government agencies, and the general public throughout Zimbabwe and the world.
  • Contributing to the evolution and maintenance a comprehensive and conducive learning environment at the University by facilitating research and technical assistance activities partnerships with other Faculties,public agencies and private sector firms.
  • Engaging in outreach activities by involving the community, organizing summer schools, offering short courses, etc.

Conditions of Service:

This is a full-time contract appointment, for a period of up to four years and subject to renewal on satisfactory performance.

The Dean shall be paid an attractive package commensurate with responsibilities and paid at a rate determined from time by the University Council. Full details of the package will be made available to shortlisted candidates.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or Bachelor of Business Studies and Computer Science from a reputable and recognised University plus five (5) years relevant post qualification experience.
  • Working experience on the design and implementation of database systems.
  • Software engineering background and hands on programming experience.
  • Experience in setting up Email and Web Servers.
  • Very good working knowledge of network platforms.
  • Experience with Belina Human Resources system or Pastel is desired.
  • Experience in training of personnel on computer related courses would be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of Intranet, Email and business information systems for Central Administration.
  • Design and implementation of database and other software related projects for the Central Administration and other units within the University.
  • Systems documentation in Central Administration.
  • Design and conducting of training courses for all grades of users within the Administrative units.
  • Train both junior and senior personnel in administrative units on matters pertaining to information systems to enhance the efficiency of delivery of support services.
  • Advise the IT Manager (Administration) on all matters to do with software.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the IT Manager (Administration).

1.2 SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or Bachelor of Business Studies and Computer Science from a reputable and recognized University plus five (5) years relevant post qualification experience.
  • Working experience on the design and implementation of database systems and hands on programming experience is a requirement.
  • Working Knowledge of at least one of the following; PASTLE, Belina, and DataEase Platform is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 7 and 8 is a must.
  • Experience in setting up E-mail and Web Servers will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Unix or Linux will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of PHP MySQL will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in training of personnel on computer related courses would be an added advantage.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of database systems and other software related projects for the Main Administration.
  • Support existing systems in PASTEL, Belina, and DataEase Platform.
  • Provide advice in purposeful automation of various units within the university administration and departments.
  • Design and train Administration personnel on proper use of the various Information Systems and on Change Management.
  • Advise the Projects Manager on matters to do with software
    systems.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Projects Manager.
  • Ability and willingness to work with a highly expectant and demanding team.

The ideal candidate should possess academic and/ or professional qualifications from an approved institution at least to the level of a Master's Degree in one of the disciplines offered by the Faculty and be at least at Senior Lecturer Grade (or have credentials that would qualify for appointment at that level). He/She should be competent to design and develop experiments and also lead research in the area up to postgraduate level.

POST B

Applicants must have a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Systems/Production and be able to teach Manufacturing Systems/Operations Research in the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Degree in Industrial and Manufacturing. In addition, the incumbent should be able to contribute to the Master of Engineering Programme in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management. He/She must also design and develop experiments and be able to lead research in the area up to postgraduate level.

POST C

Applicants must have a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Systems/Production and be able to teach Concurrent Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering Design in the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, while also contributing to the Master of Engineering Programme in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management. He/She must also design and develop experiments and lead research in the area up to postgraduate level.

2. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)

2.1 Department of Chemical Engineering-Faculty of Industrial Technology


Applicants must have at least a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering and with a strong background in Core Chemical/Process Engineering. The Chemical Engineering Department offers a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Chemical Engineering which has a strong engineering core combined with a unique minerals processing emphasis. Applicants must have teaching and research strengths in key areas such as process simulation and control, process dynamics and control, modern computational techniques in chemical engineering thermodynamics and computer aided process design. 

3. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (4 POSTS)

3.1 Applied Mathematics-Faculty of Applied Sciences

POST A

Applicants must have at least a Master of Science Degree in Pure Mathematics/Mathematics. The successful candidates will be expected to teach a wide variety of courses on the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Applied Mathematics programme and to contribute to the teaching of the Master of Science Degree in Applied Mathematical Modelling.  Proven research interest in Mathematics is a distinct advantage.

POST B

Applicants must have at least a Master of Science Degree in Statistics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide variety of courses on the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Operations Research and Statistics programme and to contribute to the teaching of the Master of Science Degree in Operations Research programme.  Candidates with a proven research interest in Statistics will be at an
advantage.

POST C

Applicants must have at least a Master of Science Degree in Financial Mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide variety of courses related to Financial Mathematics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  Proven research interest in Financial Mathematics is a distinct advantage.

4. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)

4.1 Department of Applied Chemistry-Faculty of Applied Sciences


Applicants must be in possession of a suitable post-graduate degree preferably a PhD, be able to teach advanced courses in Transport Phenomena, Unit Operations, Reactor Technology and Plant Design, including Computer Aided Design. In addition, the successful applicant should be able to supervise final year projects and Industrial Attachment visits. Applicants with Chemical Engineering background will have an
added advantage.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop research within his/her area of specialization. In addition, applicants will be expected to develop, update and review courses at undergraduate and possibly post-graduate level in order to keep up with changes in technology.

5. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (5 POSTS)

5.1 Environmental Science and Health-Faculty of Applied Sciences

POST A - PUBLIC HEALTH SPECIALIST (1 POST)

Applicants must have a relevant Master of Science or Doctorate(PhD) Degree and should be able to teach in the following areas of specialization:- Urban Development and Housing, Pest Management and Disease Control, Environmental Port Health, and Management of Solid and Hazardous Waste.

POST B - INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST (1 POST)

The ideal applicant should have a relevant Master of Science or Doctorate (PhD) Degree that will allow him/her to teach in the following areas of specialization: - Occupational Health and Safety, Sanitation and Waste Water Management, Industrial Hygiene, and any other relief course depending on the staffing situation in the department.

POST C – FOOD MICROBIOLOGIST/TECHNOLOGIST (1 POST)

Applicants must have a relevant Master of Science or Doctorate (PhD) Degree that will allow him/her to teach in the following areas of specialization:- Food Hygiene, Meat Hygiene, and Parasitology. Experience with statistical programmes and biometrics will be an added advantage.

POST D – GIS AND REMOTE SENSING SPECIALIST (1 POST)

Applicants must have a relevant Master of Science or Doctorate (PhD) Degree that will allow him/her to teach in the following areas of specialization:- Animal Resources of Africa, Environmental Information Systems, Forests and Rangeland Management, Ecological Techniques and Management of Arid and Semi Arid Lands.


POST E – ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMIST/TOXICOLOGIST (1 POST)

Applicants must have a relevant Master of Science or Doctorate (PhD) Degree that will allow him/her to teach in the following areas of specialization:- Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Health, Pesticides and Pest Control.

6. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)

6.1 Division of Basic Medical Sciences- Faculty of Medicine


Applicants should hold a minimum qualification of a relevant Master’s Degree and/or specialist qualification such as M.Med., FCPath, FRCP, FRCS, FFR, FCR, FCS, FRCOG or similar.  Teaching and research experience will be an added advantage. 8. ENGINEERING INSTRUCTOR (3 POSTS)

8.1 Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering-Faculty of Industrial Technology

POST A

Applicants must have a first Degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering/Technical Education plus a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience in a relevant field or industry is required.

The successful applicant will be expected to lead students through experimental work, demonstrate the operations of various types of equipment and plant, and to guide them through hands-on operation of the plant and equipment with particular regard to safety.  In addition, s/he will be expected to also assist academic staff in their research activities.

POST B

Applicants must have a first Degree in Metallurgy/Material Science/Mechanical Engineering to cover Material Science. In addition, applicants are required to have a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience in a relevant field in industry.

The successful applicant will be expected to lead students through experimental work, demonstrate the operations of various types of equipment and plant, and to guide them through hands-on operation of the plant and equipment with particular regard to safety.  In addition, s/he will be expected to also assist academic staff in their research activities.

POST C

Applicants must have a first Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, plus a National Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, and a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience in a relevant field in industry to help in courses such as Instrumentation and Control. 

The successful applicant will be expected to lead students through experimental work, demonstrate the operations of various types of equipment and plant, and to guide them through hands-on operation of the plant and equipment with particular regard to safety.  In addition, he/she will be expected to also assist academic staff in their research activities.

9. STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP (2 POSTS)

9.1 Department of Publishing Studies- Faculty of Communication and Information Science

Applicants must have at least a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Publishing with at least a 2.1 Degree Classification or better.  The duties of the incumbents will involve assisting with teaching undergraduate tutorial classes in Publishing Theory and Practice as well as research.  The successful candidates would be expected to register for a higher degree which they must complete within two years of
appointment.

10. TEACHING ASSISTANT (1 POST)

10.1 Department of Textile Technology-Faculty of Industrial Technology


Applicants must have an Honours Degree in Textile Technology with a 2.1 degree classification or better. Successful candidates will be expected to assist with conduct of Tutorials and practical classes in Textile Technology.  The successful candidates will be expected to register for a higher Degree Programme in the Department of Textile Technology.  Preference shall be given to candidates who are strong in
Chemistry related subjects with 2.1 passes or better.

11. TEACHING ASSISTANT (2 POSTS)

11.1 Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering-Faculty of Industrial Technology


Applicants should be in possession of at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing/Production Engineering or Materials Science and Technology, with at least a 2.1 Degree classification; or a 2.2 plus two years relevant post-qualification experience.

The successful applicants will be expected to assist academic staff with teaching and research in the Department’s four Divisions which are: - Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing Process Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, and Engineering Management. The applicants will be expected to consider registration for the Masters Degree programme, which is run by the Department.

12. TEACHING ASSISTANT (1 POST)

12. 1 Department of Publishing Studies- Faculty of Communication and Information Science


Applicants must have at least a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Publishing with at least a 2.1 degree classification or better.  The duties of the incumbent will involve assisting with teaching undergraduate tutorial classes in Publishing Theory and Practice as well as research.  The successful candidate will be expected to register for a higher degree specifically a Master of Philosophy Degree that they must complete within two years of appointment to the post.

13. TEACHING ASSISTANT (1 POST)

13. 1 Department of Library and Information Science- Faculty of Communication and Information Science


Applicants should hold a good Honours degree (Upper Second Class) in Library and Information Science or closely related discipline, enabling them to assist in research, teaching, projects and marking in areas specific to Library and Information Science; Records Management; Archival Science; and Information and Communication Technology.  Candidates with a strong background in Social Research Methods will have an
added advantage. The successful applicant will be expected to register for a Masters Degree programme in one of the available programmes in the Department.

14. TEACHING ASSISTANT (2 POSTS)

14.1 Department of Computer Science-Faculty of Applied Sciences


Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Computer Science with an Upper Second (2.1) Degree class or better. Successful candidates will be expected to take undergraduate practical and tutorial classes in Computer Science as assigned by the Chairman of the department.  They will be expected to register for a higher Degree in one of the  programmes available in the department.




B. ADMINISTRATIVE  POSTS


15. ASSISTANT REGISTRAR/SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (1 POST)

15. 1 Registrar’s Department


Applicants must normally hold a relevant Masters Degree or equivalent and at least 2 years relevant post-qualification experience, or have an appropriate Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years relevant post-qualification experience.  They must display knowledge of Administration concepts and have good organizational skills; be able to plan and co-ordinate Faculty activities and be computer literate.  Administrative experience in an educational environment, knowledge of University systems of operation and computer literacy will be added advantages.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in any Section of the University Administration, but the initial appointment will be to one of the Faculties.

C. TECHNICAL POSTS

16. MAINTENANCE OFFICER (1 POSTS)

16.1 Physical Planning, Works and Estates


Applicants must be holders of a minimum qualification of a Degree in Engineering, plus a minimum of three (3) years working experience in a maintenance environment, or related field. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of, and ability to use hand and welding tools. Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, carpentry, transport and ground systems is essential. The successful candidate will
be expected to possess exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills to enable him/her to be able to function effectively and efficiently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with an aptitude for computer systems and technologies will be desirable. In addition, applicants are required to have knowledge of ISO 14001 Environment Management Systems.  A driver’s license is a must.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of building maintenance, repairs and improvements. He/she will be expected to delegate maintenance tasks to maintenance and warehouse staff, ensuring that such tasks are performed timeously in a pro-active, safe and environmentally conscious manner. Furthermore, the incumbent will work closely with university personnel in organizing and maintaining preventative maintenance requirements; scheduling and material purchases. Other duties in the overall supervision of maintenance production and plant assets will include assessing maintenance staff workloads and making appropriate recommendations; actively participating in planning, organizing and executing tasks and projects; training staff on processes, procedures and technical tasks.

17. CHIEF TECHNICIAN (1 POST)

17.1 Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering-Faculty of Industrial Technology


Applicants should have a Masters Degree in Manufacturing/Production/Mechanical Engineering with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial and Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.  At least 5 years of post-bachelor’s industrial experience is required, two of which must be in a supervisory role.  The successful applicant will be expected to supervise staff in the workshop in addition to the technician’s duties.

18. CHIEF TECHNICIAN (1 POST)

18.1 Department of Computer Science-Faculty of Applied Sciences


Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in either Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Software Engineering or any equivalent Information Technology Degree from a recognized University or Institution, and at least 5(five) years post-qualification experience. A Postgraduate Degree in the relevant field would be a definite advantage.  Candidates must have experience in computer software,
networking and hardware.  The duties of the incumbent will include management of computer laboratories and laboratory equipment, supervision of junior staff, liaison with equipment suppliers and provision of user support within the department.

Applicants must posses a minimum qualification of a Higher National Diploma, or a Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or Electronics. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant post-qualification experience. For candidates to be appointed to the senior Technician Grade, they should have 3 years post-qualification experience, in addition to the outlined Degree qualification.

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Chairman of the Department and will be expected to run and maintain the Departmental Computer laboratory. He/she should have a thorough working knowledge of modems, routers and switches. The duties will include trouble shooting, cabling (CAT5), configuration, repair and maintenance of all departmental computer related hardware or software problems, in addition to overall technical supervision of laboratory sessions. Enforcement of security and safety measures in the computer laboratory, assisting both undergraduate and post-graduate students in carrying out their research, user training and support, and checking consumable stocks and advising on re-ordering levels will be some of the duties, as well as doing any other duties assigned by the Head of Department or
senior technical staff.

21. TECHNICIAN/SENIOR TECHNICIAN (1 POST)

21.1 Department of Textile Technology-Faculty of Industrial Technology


Applicants must be holders of either a Higher National Diploma or equivalent, or a Degree in Textile Technology/Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering with experience in maintenance, repair and setting of Textile manufacturing equipment.  Experience in Textile laboratory/workshop administration, repair and calibration of laboratory equipment will be an added advantage.  For a candidate to be appointed to the senior Technician’s Grade, one has to have 3 years post qualification experience, as well as the ability to supervise and train junior staff.

The successful applicant will be expected to maintain and service departmental equipment for thermal, fluid and compressed air systems for teaching and research activities. He/she will also be required to actively participate in the design and development of experimental test rigs, and to assist students in

1.3     DIRECTOR - UNIVERSITY SECRETARIAT (1 POST)

1.3.1     Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants must have at least a Masters' Degree in a relevant area.
  • A high proven track record of at least ten years' experience in servicing and co-ordinating meetings.
  • Experience in Local Authorities/Higher Education management in a diverse academic institution will be an added advantage.

1.3.2 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of all committee secretaries to ensure that all committee deliberations are captured accurately and reports are produced timeously,
  • Follow up recommendations and decisions made by the committees and produce progress reports in respect of their implementation, training of all committee secretaries on report writing and presentation skills as well as on the functions of the committees they service and attend all key committees of Council and Senate in order to capture key policy decisions.

 

 

1.4     DIRECTOR - MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION (1 POST)

1.4.1     Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of ten years' relevant communications, marketing or public relations experience with demonstrated success.

1.4.2 Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Director Marketing and Communication is responsible for providing marketing and communication guidance and services to university officers, Deans, Chairpersons, Students, and other agents of the university.
  • The main responsibilities include contributing a market and communication perspective to the deliberations of the University Administration in their planning for the future,
  • Preparing data that may be needed by any officer of the university on a particular market size, segments, trends and behavioral dynamics,
  • Conducting studies of the needs, perceptions, preferences and satisfactions of particular markets, assisting in the planning, launch and promotion of new programmes, assisting in the development of communication an promotion campaigns and materials,
  • Analyzing and advising on pricing issues,
  • Appraising the workability of new academic proposals from a marketing view point,
  • Advising on new student recruitment, current student satisfaction, university fundraising, university communication requirements,
  • Organizing major university functions, coordinating the production of speeches for senior officials,planning and mounting public relations programmes,
  • Producing and distributing publications such as the prospectus,calendar, annual reports, newsletters, facts and figures etc, taking responsibility of all protocol work,
  • Developing and maintaining a distinct, high profile image of the university, be responsible for the media liaison (press releases, media response and media placement) as well as being the official spokesperson of the university,
  • Serving on university committees as advised by the Vice Chancellor,
  • Contacting individual officers and small groups at the university to expiam services available,
  • To solicit problems and prioritizing various requests for services according to their long run impact, cost saving potential time requirements, ease of accomplishment, cost and urgency,
  • Selecting projects of high priority and set accomplishment goals for the year,
  • Preparing a budget request to support the anticipated work and preparing an annual report on the main accomplishments of the office.

1.1 DIRECTOR - QUALITY ASSURANCE (I Post)

The incumbent will be reporting to the Vice Chancellor with the strategic mandate to promote quality assurance in the activities of the Institute, The Director plays a pivotal role in the Institute's senior management structure, providing overall leadership and management functions to the Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director will report to the Vice Chancellor and win be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the implementation of the University Quality Assurance Framework;
  • Formulating the University's Quality Assurance Policies and Practices and monitoring across the university and where appropriate, in the University's Affiliate and Associate Institutions;
  • Managing the Secretariat of the University Quality Assurance Committee;
  • Implementing the Quality Assurance initiatives and supporting Quality Assurance and Enhancement of Management Systems across the University;
  • Contributing towards the identification, development and promotion of the University's Quality Assurance protocols and mechanisms;
  • Liaison with strategic partners and funding agencies to mobilize financial resources for Quality Assurance activities;
  • Coordinating the process of accreditation of academic programmes;
  • Promoting quality assurance activities of the Institute;
  • Dispensing strategic advice to academic staff in order to maximize their teaching and learning skills;
  • Facilitating research and the creation of a conducive learning environment;
  • Any other duties related to Quality Assurance as may be assigned from time to time by the Vice Chancellor.

 

Qualifications and Experience.

  • A relevant post graduate qualification,
  • The candidate should have a wide range of experience in developing and implementing the Quality Assurance Management Systems,
  • A minimum of five years experience in a university or research organisation administration,
  • A PhD qualification will be an added advantage.

2.1 IT Technician (3 posts)

Applicants should have at least a Higher National Diploma in Computer Studies/Information Technology plus 3 years post qualification experience. A Bachelor's degree in the relevant Held would be an added advantage. An A+, CCNA and Microsoft certifications will be an added advantage.

 

 

3.0 REGISTRY

3.1 Assistant Registrar/Senior Assistant Registrar (1 post)

Applicants should have a relevant Bachelor's degree and at least four (4) years post qualification experience in a university environment.

 

3.2 Secretary (2 Posts)

Applicants should have a HND in Secretarial Studies or equivalent, Advanced Typewriting, 80wpm Shorthand and 2 years post qualification experience preferably in a University set up. In addition, the incumbent must be of mature disposition with initiative, be able to work with minimum supervision, have well-developed supervisory skills and be proficient in both oral and written English.

 

 

4.0 FINANCE DEPARTMENT

4.1 Accountant - Debtors/Student Accounts (1 post)

Applicants should have an Accounting Degree/Full ClS/ACCA/ CIMA or equivalent qualification, at least two years relevant working experience in a University environment and knowledge of accounting software, especially Pastel Evolution. Membership of a professional Accountant body is an added advantage.

4.2 Chief Accounts Clerk (1 post)

Applicants should have a Higher National Diploma in Accounting/Part C/CIS/ ACCA Stage 2/CHIMA Level2/Full SAA an equivalent accounting qualification, knowledge of asset accounting software or Pastel Evolution and at least two years working experience in asset accounting Experience in a University environment would be
an added advantage.

 

4.3 Accounts Clerk (1 post)

Applicants should have a National Diploma in Accounting/Part B CIS/ACCA Stage 2/CIMA Part 2/SAAA Part 3 or an equivalent accounting qualification, knowledge of Pastel Evolution would be an added advantage. Experience in a University accounting environment would be an added advantage.

 

4.4 Purchasing Clerk (1 post)

Applicants should have a National Diploma in Purchasing and Supply/Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Diploma or an equivalent qualification and at least one year post qualification experience.

 

 

5.0 SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

5.1 INDUSTRIAL AND MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

5.1.1 Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (3 Posts)

Applicants for all posts should have a minimum of a Masters Degree in Industrial/ Manufacturing /Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience at university level or in the Industrial and Manufacturing field. A PhD would be an added advantage.

Post A

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses including Applied Mechanics and Dynamics and a wide variety of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Post B

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses including Metal Forming Technology and Material Removal Processes and other courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

5.2 ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

5.2.1 Associate Professor/Professor(1 Post)

Applicants should have at least a Masters Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent. A PhD in Electronic Engineering and/or a background in Biomedical Electronics and measurements or Photonics would be an added advantage. Applicants should also have a minimum of 2 years teaching/industrial experience. Successful candidates will be expected to teach a wide variety of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Research experience in renewable energies with special emphasis on the instrumentation and control systems design will be most welcome.

 

5.2.2 Lecture/Senior Lecture (1post)

Applications should have at least a Masters Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent. The successful candidate for the Lecture position will be expected to teach a variety of courses including Mobile Communication Systems Design, VHDL and Digital Design, Advanced Communication Network, Bluetooth, Communication Networks, VLSI Technology, Telecommunications, Microwave, Control Systems and Power Electronics and Communications Systems Performance.

5.2.2 Teaching Assistant (1 Post)

Applicants should have at least a B.Tech Honours in Electronic Engineering or equivalent with a 2.1 degree classification or better.

5.2.4 Stores-person (1Post)

Applicants should have at least a National Certificate in Electronic/Electrical Engineering and a diploma in Purchasing and Supply would be an added advantage.

 

5.3 MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

Applicants should have at least a Masters Degree in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) or Physical Metallurgy or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years experience at University level. Post B

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses including Ceramic Processing Technology, Composite Materials and Synthesis, Polymer Processing Technology, Foundry Technology, Testing and Characterization of Materials at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Post C

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses including Biomedical Materials and Processing, Electronic Materials Engineering, Materials in Energy Technologies, Nano-materials, Heat and Mass Transfer at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

 

5.3.2 Teaching Assistant(3 Posts)

Applicants must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering (Honours) or Metallurgical Engineering (Honours) or equivalent with a 2.1 classification or better. The successful candidates will assist lectures in the academic business of the department, take an active role in Departmental researches and consultative services and participate in research commercialization projects.

 

 

6.0 SCHOOL OF INDUSTRIAL SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY

6.1 POLYMER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

6.1.1 Lecture/Senior Lecture/Associate Professor/Professor (1 post)

Applicants should have at least a Masters Degree in Polymer Science/Technology/Engineering. The successful applicant will be involved in teaching and research and will be expected to conduct lectures and practicals in Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Rheology, Polymer Processing, Polymer Materials other relevant modules. A doctorate would be a distinct advantage.

6.1.2 Teaching Assistant(2 Posts)

Applicants must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Polymer Science or equivalent with a 2.1 classification or better. The successful applicants will be involved in teaching and research and will be expected to assist in conducting lectures, tutorials and practicals in Polymer Chemistry, Physics and other Polymer Science and Engineering modules.

6.1.3 Technical Instructor/Technician (1 Post)

Applicants must be a holder of at least a National Diploma in Plastics/Rubber Technology with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in the Polymer industry. A Higher National Diploma would be a distinct advantage. The suitable candidate must be able to efficiently set and operate the following plastics processing machinery; Injection Moulding Machine, Blow Moulding (Conventional & PET), Extruders, Health and Safety awareness is a must.

6.1.4 Technical Instructor/Technician (1 Post)

Applicants must be a holder of at least a National Diploma in Polymer Science/Technology/Engineering/Chemistry with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience as a laboratory Technician in Polymer Science/Polymer Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry and related fields. The successful applicant must be able to supervise practicals, competently set and operate the following; HPLC, TGA, DCS, IR, IR, MFI. Health and Safety awareness is a must.

6.2 BIOTECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

6.2.1 Lecture/Senior Lecture/Associate Professor/Professor (1post)

Applicants should have at least a Masters Degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering or Bioinformatics. A Phd in Bioengineering or Biotechnology would
be an added advantage. Applicants should also have research interest in Bioengineering or related field and have a minimum of 2 years teaching or industrial experience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach (among others) courses in Bio-process Engineering, Enzyme Engineering and Technology, Bioinformatics, Bioprocess Modelling and Simulation and Metabolic Engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

7.0 TECHNOPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

7.1 Teaching Assistant (2 Posts)

Applicants should have at least an M.Sc/M.Tech in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Mathematical Modeling/ Industrial Mathematics/Computational Science and Engineering or a related Mathematical Science. A doctorate in the form of a PhD or D.Tech would be an added advantage.

The candidates will teach a variety of Engineering Mathematics including Mathematics for Technologists, Industrial Mathematics and Statistics courses to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Engineering Sciences and Technology, and the School of Industrial Sciences and Technology. They are also expected to contribute to the development and teaching of the planned B.Tech in Industrial and Computational Mathematics

Candidates with high analytical and computational skills, and who will contribute to research in the institute will be preferred.

Post A

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses including core mathematics applied to engineering, science and technology, that is Calculus, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations and Mathematical Analysis.

The Faculty consists of the following Departments: Accounting and Finance, and Business Management

These are fixed term full time high level positions to be held for a pen ad of four years in the first instance. The Dean reports to the Vice Chancellor and is a member of the Senior Administrative Team of the University. The Dean is the Chief Academic, Administrative and Financial Officer of the Faculty, and is responsible for research and academic leadership; administration and management; community outreach; income generation and financial management of the Faculty.

The ideal candidate should possess academic and or professional qualifications from an approved institution at least at the level of Doctorate Degree in one of the disciplines or related disciplines offered by the Faculty and be at least at Senior Lecturer Grade or have credentials that would qualify for appointment at that level. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing a sense of community for the Faculty's students, academic and support staff regardless of gender, race and religion.

  • Developing and or increasing collaboration between Faculty Departments, and between the faculty and other Faculties in ways that enrich the training programmes offered by the Faculty.

3. DIRECTOR FOR CENTRE FOR LANGUAGES, ARTS AND CULTURE (1 POST)

Vice Chancellor's Office

The Centre for Languages, Arts and Culture will be a unit whose mandate would be to promote research and development of local Indigenous Languages, Arts and Culture. The Director of the Centre must be a person with a proven track record in research in African Languages, Philosophy, World-view, Arts and Culture. He or she must have that capacity to offer intellectual leadership and articulate a vision for the Centre as well as demonstrate the ability to raise funds for the Centre. The Director must have the stature to represent and network on behalf of the Centre within the country and beyond. He or she will be expected to establish this Centre and develop it into a dynamic unit within the University. The Director must therefore have a clear vision of how helshe will bring the plan of the envisaged Centre for Languages, Arts and Culture into being.

This is a fixed term full time high level position to be held for a period of four (4) years in the first instance. The ideal candidate must possess a PhD in African Languages or literature plus five (5) years relevant working experience. Applicants must produce evidence of substantial relevant scholarly work published in referred journals.

The successful candidate will report to the Vice Chancellor and will be responsible mainly for the following, among other duties:

  • Establish a Centre for Languages, Arts and Culture.
  • Provide leadership that enhances the collaboration of the three areas within the Center (languages, arts and culture) while supporting the independent efforts of the distinctive areas.
  • Coordinate, develop, implement and manage research activities for the Centre for languages, Arts and Culture.
  • Network with other universities to establish relationships with professors and researchers that will benefit the Centre.
  • Facilitate for the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with Institutions with a similar mandate.
  • Create new, relevant and innovative ways of promoting the public image of the Center across the University community, Zimbabwe and the region.
  • Organise and host seminars, research days, workshop and conferences focusing on the core business of the Centre.
  • Ensure the development and management of the human resoorce component of the Centre to produce best practice delivery of research services to lupane State University.
  • Source and facilitate external funding for the sustenance of the Center.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of the Centre budget; review financial reports and records for the Centre with the University Bursar.
  • Offer consultancy services.

 

 

4. DEPARTMENT Of PEACE AND LEADERSHIP STUDIES

4.1 Lectureship / Senior Lectureship / Associate Professorship / Professorship (4 POSTS)

Applicants should have a PhD in the field of Peace and leadership Studies. Preference will be given to candidates who will demonstrate commitment to academic excellence through University teaching, research, publication and establishing linkages and partnerships with State and Non State organization in order to support student internships and work related learning.

Candidates should be able to teach undergraduates in at least three of the following courses: Peace and Conflict, Theory and Practice, Civil Society in Africa, leadership Theory and Practice, Human Rights and the Rule of law, Conflict Peace and Development, International Relations, Research Methodology, Governance in Africa, and Democracy and Transitional Justice.

4.2 Teaching Assistant-ship (2 POSTS)

Applicants should have at least an upper second class (2.1) first a degree in Peace Studies or a related field. Post qualification teaching experience will be an added advantage.



5. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS

5.1 Lectureship / Senior Lectureship / Associate Professorship / Professorship (4POSTS)

Applicants should have a PhD in the field of Education. Preference will be given to candidates who will demonstrate commitment to academic excellence through University teaching, research, publication and establishing linkages and partnerships with State and Non State organization in order to support student internships and work related learning.

Candidates should be able to teach undergraduates in at least three of the following courses: Developmental and Educational Psychology, learning Theories, Theories of Motivation and the role of Motivation in learning, Measurement and Evaluation, Research Methods and Statistics, and Guidance and Counselling. They should be able to supervise students' research projects and follow up students on teaching practice.

5.2 Teaching Assistantship (2 POSTS)

Applicants should have at least an upper second class 12.11 first a degree in education or related field in the main disciplines of Education. Post qualification teaching experience will be an added advantage.

 

 

6.    DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY AND POPULATION STUDIES

6.1 Lectureship / Senior Lectureship / Associate Professorship / Professorship (1 POST)

Applicants should have a PhD in the field of Geography and for Population Studies. In addition candidates must have a good first degree with a clear predisposition towards Geography.

Applicants should be able to teach at least three of the following courses: Climatology, Hydrology, Ecosystems and Soils, Demography and Population Studies, Urban Soil Geography, Population Programmes and Policies and Natural Resources Management.

6.2 Lectureship / Senior Lectureship / Associate Professorship / Professorship (1 POST)

This is a fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years

Applicants should have a PhD in the field of Geography and Population Studies, with strong bias towards Geographical Information Systems. Candidates must demonstrate vast experience in the application of Geographical information Systems and Remote Sensing in collecting date and solving problems.

Applicants should be able to teach at least three of the following courses; Introduction to Geographical Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Application of Geographical Information Systems, and Research Methods.
