INSTITUTE OF LIFELONG LEARNING

Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer (2 posts)

Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) Institute of Lifelong Learning promotes the teaching, research and community activities built on experiences encountered in people's lifetimes. Such learning is formal, informal and non-formal for all age groups. The work of the Institute over the last 10 years has faced CUT in a vanguard position to champion the place of lifelong learning in technology development in Zimbabwe. Currently, the Institute is streamlining its programmes to focus on: community degree programmes that articulate issues of technology learning; courses at the certificate, diploma and postgraduate levels to enhance community skills in various areas especially in science and technology; research in lifelong learning to expound the foundational, interdisciplinary and practical domains and application of lifelong learning in technology development; technology curriculum and professional development; indigenous knowledge systems and lifelong learning; and language and communication skills.

 

The Institute requires 2 (two) seasoned professionals at the Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer grade. Applicants should be able to research, teach and supervise students in some of:

  • Lifelong learning, including informal, formal and non-formal education Sustainable societies and livelihoods
  • Indigenous knowledge systems, lifelong learning and sustainable societies
  • Interfaces between science, technology and society
  • Development studies including rural development studies and technology development
  • Community development and technology development
  • Interdisciplinary studies especially interfacing the physical and social sciences
  • Gender and societal differentiation and sustainable livelihoods Communication for development


Successful candidates should hold PhD qualifications and have significant experience in their areas of specialization. They will be expected to provide leadership in identifying, initiating and guiding team based research on lifelong learning for technology development. They will have a strong research background and must have supervised students up to doctoral level
