Multi-fruit Processing

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

(proposed by the Industrial Development Coperation of Zimbabwe )

The project involves the processing of a variety of locally available fruits such as banana, mango, guava, citrus and pineapple into juice concentrates, fruit pulps, fruit nectars and essential oils. The Manicaland province of Zimbabwe boasts of over 160 000 tonnes of different types of fruit where less than 20% of that is either sold as fresh or processed into value added products. Multi fruit processing

There is only one juicing factory in the country, mainly concentrating on orange juice while the rest of the juice concentrates are imported. An Opportunity, therefore exists to process the rest of the fruits for the local and regional market.

The estimated investment cost of the project is US$22 million. However, this can be done in phases on a fruit by fruit basis.
