(proposed by the Industrial Development Coperation of Zimbabwe )

The current investments on existing infrastructure are BDF compatible with whom Zimglass has a technical agreement. The furnace has two fore hearths and independent section machines ranging from six sections per machine to eight sections per machine.

The normal manufacturing plant infrastructure exists from the batch station (raw material mixing) to shrink wrapping machines (finished product packaging). The estimated cost of rebuilding the furnace is US$22 million.

Due to power shortages in Zimbabwe and the reqion, Zimglass is also seeking technical partners to develop the latest alternative energy source forfiring the furnace otherthan electricity while ensuring optimum value.
