Job Scope and Outline:
- The Pump Technician reports to the Engineering Manager and the role offers repairs and maintenance to pump equipment at Service Stations and depots in Harare and its environs.
- The Pump Technician also maintains equipment for customers in his/her allocated zone.
Job Specification: (Key Roles and Responsibilities)
- Carry out maintenance of pumping and metering equipment in accordance with the Trade Measures Act.
- Prepare all equipment that requires as sizing for the Government Inspectors to assize.
- Carry out verification and calibration of pumps and meters at the depots and customer sites.
- Liase with contractors on subcontracted work to ensure that The Employer's equipment is repaired or serviced as per standard and in accordance with legislation.
- Provide best practices in the operation of equipment to users at Service stations, customer sites and depots.
- Provide training' to users of equipment on good and recommended proper operation of equipment.
- Ensure that the department offer customer service levels that meet the required standards as set out in the service level agreements.
- Liaise with Engineering Manager to ensure that an updated Critical spares list is maintained and that all critical spares are available and the minimum stock is also available.
- Assist Business Managers and Key Account Managers in loss investigation when this service is required.
- Manage and collaborate with service providers, relationship and partnership building.
- Promote actions and decisions that prevent accidents harm to people and damage to the environment extending this to contractors as well.
Requirements
Qualifications
- A Class one Journey person in Fitting and Turning or a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
- A valid Licence of Competence from the Trade Measures department.
- Clean Class 4 drivers licence
Experience:
- At least two years experience in a fitting and turning position and at least five years experience in maintenance and servicing of petroleum pumps and depot or truck bulk meters.
